Something old is new again
Something old is new again at Kings Island in Ohio, as since the start of the season on April 20 the backward travelling trains on The Racer rollercoaster now runs forward again.
The decision to run both sides of the Racer forward for the first time in 26 years, with one side facing backward, was made in an effort to be consistent with other Cedar Fair parks. The Red Racer trains will be on the former backward side, with the Blue Racer trains on the other.
The Racer has been a mainstay at Kings Island, and with good reason. The ride is credited with re-igniting the roller coaster building boom in the early ‘70s. More than 91 million guests have taken a ride on The Racer since it opened in 1972.
