Strong order book for Vekoma

Asian business buoys sales

“Vekoma is doing very well in Asia,” reports the Dutch coaster manufacturer’s Charlotte van Etten.

Talking of some of the company’s Chinese projects she revealed: “For OCT in China we will produce a Suspended Looping Coaster and Mine Train. We have an entirely new coaster, Sting Ray, that is the new generation Flying Dutchman, an entirely new flying coaster, for Suzhou Giant Wheel Park in Suzhou that will fly over Jinji Lake. We are also completing a new Motorbike Launch Coaster for a Chinese park.”

Working with Chance Morgan, Vekoma is to supply a Mine Train and Junior Coaster at Hard Rock Park in 2009, as well as a Mine Train for Gardaland in Italy. Delayed from last season, a custom-designed family coaster for Tibidabo in Spain will also open this coming season. Built on a mountain hillside overlooking Barcelona, it travels through and over trees.

Van Etten lists some of the other rides planned: “We have a Suspended Family Coaster for a park in the States, a Suspended Looping Coaster at a park to be announced, two Junior Coasters also to be announced, plus two major coasters planned for various Asian parks. Then in 2009 we have a custom designed Mine Train for Isla Magica in Spain, and two custom-designed Family Coasters destined for Asia.”
