Six Flags switches staff

Del Holland’s departure creates new opportunities

Andy Michaelree has been named park president of Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Louisville, Kentucky. Michaelree began his career at Six Flags as a teenager in 1973 as a seasonal food host at Six Flags St Louis. He replaces Jay Thomas, who was recently promoted to park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor, Valencia, California, replacing Del Holland, who retires after an amazing 44-year career with Six Flags.

“Del is one of our company’s most experienced and respected executives and has made innumerable contributions to our company during his 44 years with Six Flags,” says Mark Shapiro, Six Flags president and CEO. “Del isn’t just a leader, he’s an innovator. I want to personally thank him for his service, commitment and dedication to our company.”

Taking over at Magic Mountain, Thomas brings 18 years’ Six Flags experience, at both the corporate and park level, serving in park administration, operations, rides, marketing and information technology in Dallas, San Antonio, Atlanta and New York.
