Sally’s plans for 2008

Six dark rides under construction

Sally Corporation has six new dark rides under construction for delivery in 2008. According to Sally CEO John Wood, Hard Rock Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, will debut Nights in White Satin – The Trip, a non-interactive dark ride based on the song of the same name by the Moody Blues.

“To have a ride related to a song is unprecedented,” notes Wood. Twelve guests at a time will be dispatched using two six-person vehicles fitted with on-board audio, supplied by ETF Ride Systems. Riders will encounter projection, optical illusions, lasers, a fog screen, mystical maiden and see the moon explode like a lava light. The ‘70s-themed ride will last six minutes.

At Legoland California in Carlsbad, a new section of the park will feature Lost Kingdom Adventure, an interactive family ride (pictured) starring Johnny Thunder, Sara Sinister, the Professor and Miss Pippin Reed. It will be themed as an Egyptian adventure complete with spiders, mummies, skeletons and treasure.

For OCT In China, which is building new parks in Chendu and Shanghai, Sally is creating two Christmas/North Pole Adventure rides, both interactive. A Den of Lost Thieves, an interactive pirate adventure themed dark ride, is also scheduled for delivery to Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, and Wood is hopeful in completing negotiations on one more interactive dark ride for an American park.
