German theme park Europa-Park will host the Themed Entertainment Association’s SATE Europe conference for 2018, taking place May 2-3. Park founder Roland Mack (pictured) will be the keynote speaker. SATE is the signature conference on Experience Design.
Born in Freiburg in 1949, Roland Mack studied mechanical engineering and created the idea for Europa-Park together with his father in the 1970s. After spending time in the USA he developed the initial concept for the park. Over the next years he, his father Franz and brother Jürgen turned a day-trip destination into an international recreation enterprise. He was the first German chairman of IAAPA, and in 2013, Europa-Park was honoured with the Thea Classic Award by the Themed Entertainment Association.
The theme of TEA SATE Europe 2018 is ‘Industry Landscape: The power of the collective in creating shared experiences that are shaping themed entertainment.’ The two-day conference will feature a range of speakers from various disciplines and is aimed at helping delegates understand how great attractions are being shaped and how current developments and innovations will shape the industry going forward.
The types of issues to be addressed at TEA SATE Europe 2018 include IP and branding strategies; driving long-term growth; accessibility; solutions through landscaping; security as a driver for change, and technology shaping our future.
