New Shanghai summit announced

Over 70 speakers confirmed

A new conference for people working or looking to invest in the Chinese leisure industry has been announced for June in Shanghai and Park World will be an official media partner.

The Asia Tourism Property and Attraction Summit is being organised by the Shanghai Tourism Administration and Global Leaders Institute and will examine what is forecast to become the world’s no.1 tourist destination in just over a decade. This year, of course, the country gets a boost with the arrival of the Olympic games in Beijing. Chinese travellers visiting foreign shores are also on the increase, and more than 100 million are expected to do so by 2020.
“However, China is still relatively new terrain for most players and this event should be considered a top priority for those that want to learn how to establish the best strategies in the region and capture a portion of this lucrative market,” says Jackey Liu of the Global Leaders Institute.
The 70-strong panel assembled for the summit features many Chinese speakers, including attractions owners and operators, government representatives, academics and real estate developers. International delegates can be assured that all sessions will feature translation.
The event takes place at the Marriott Hongqiao on June 12 and 23. More details, including a list of speakers, will be published in the May issue of Park World. To register (delegate numbers are limited) see: www.tourism-attraction.com
Meanwhile, the Avail Corporation, which staged two similar events in Shanghai in recent years has announced it will be staging an attractions summit in Macau in July – immediately before the IAAPA Asian Attractions Expo, also in Macau.
