Maurer building interactive racing coaster

Following the successful opening of the first Spike Coaster at Germany’s Allgäu Skyline Park, Maurer Rides is building a more complex version. The new Spike Coaster project will be a duelling track, each 525 meters (1,722 feet) long, to create a real competition. Guests can control the speed themselves at Mirabilandia Park, Ravenna, Italy. Ducati World will be a complete new themed area dedicated entirely to the Italian motorcycle manufacturer where the Spike coaster will be the main attraction. It is expected to open in 2019.

The vehicles in the Spike Ducati Competition are designed as Panigale V4, the new Ducate Superbike. With two tracks, there will be a real race between two vehicles where only the fastest wins. The Spike Coaster uses a unique tooth system that allows the electromotive driving force to be transferred to the rail slip-free and with full traction.
