With gates set to open on 20 June, Leolandia has many surprises in store for all visitors, starting from the highly awaited PJ Masks City, the first and only themed area in the world dedicated to the heroes of one of the top television series in Italy and abroad. On entering PJ Masks City, guests will dive into the adventures of Connor, Greg and Amaya, the three children who put their pyjamas on at night, turn into Catboy, Gekko and Owlette, disguised as superheroes, ready to defeat the villains and save the day. They can fly on board the Owl Glider for a breath-taking trip around the iconic Headquarter, find many surprises in city’s Playground and in the water Spraypark, and meet Catboy, Gekko and Owlette in the Museum.

The new PJ Masks City is now part of the park’s themed areas, such as Foresta di Masha e Orso (Masha and the Bear’s Woodland), inaugurated in 2018: protected by a huge trunk that guests can cross like a tunnel, the area hosts Masha’s House with the Courtyard, the Bear’s Woodland full of surprises and a Theatre where guests can attend a fun show and then take a souvenir photo with the cartoon characters. A ride on Vroom, the exciting roller coaster that is also designed for children at least 90 cm tall, is not to be missed.

Bing e Flop, the youngest children’s heroes, will also join Leolandia as the main characters of an exclusive mini live-show and offer different opportunities to meet the children. In order to avoid gatherings and to adopt social distancing measures in all areas of the park, the entrance will be limited, also by using online booking systems, which will allow the park to identify the days and times with the lowest attendance level. In this way, wide space will be left for each family and queues will be limited, for an even more satisfying visit. Distance is guaranteed, but without separating the little ones from mum and dad, even on the attractions, which will be regularly sanitised, exactly like all the other places in the park. A team of smiley-eyed stewards will be at visitors’ disposal to explain the new “game rules” and to ensure perfect calm, even when visitors will enter shops and restaurants, where large outdoor areas will be set up.

In order to make the visitor experience unique and to better prepare the opening, the park has carried out a survey that gave very encouraging results, with over 15,000 responses on the first day alone, confirming the positive sentiment of the public: 80% of respondents expressed the wish to come back to theme parks as soon as possible, as they consider them to be sufficiently reliable locations, also in view of the safety measures taken. Specifically with regard to Leolandia, 43% of respondents stated that they would like to visit the park as early as summer 2020, while 65% of the sample would come by the end of the year.

Giuseppe Ira, Leolandia president said: “Our reopening is an important step towards a return to normality for a territory that has been severely affected in recent months. I would like to thank all the institutions that have supported us at national and local level. Young people and children have been among the most affected by these circumstances and they have now the right to have fun in total safety. Together with the Italian Association of Permanent Amusement Parks and IAAPA, the international organisation that represents our industry, we have developed very precise rules, which we will scrupulously respect to protect our guests and staff. It will not be an easy season, but we are ready to make our contribution to the recovery, also in terms of employment and work-related activities”.

At full capacity, Leolandia employs around 600 people; in 2019 it welcomed 1.2 million visitors, generating more than 100,000 stays in hotels in the area thanks to the “Park + Hotel” holiday package.
