Promising the “adrenaline of Formula One,” Mirabilandia launched its new iSpeed rollercoaster on June 20 with the appearance of motorcycle champion Mark Simoncelli.
The LSM launch coaster, by Intamin, goes from 0-100km/h in 2.2 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 120km/h. The ride’s signature hump is 55-metres high. The accompanying G-forces are, according to the park, equivalent to that provided by a Mig jet at takeoff.
The new project represents an investment of €15 million by the park’s owner, Parques Reunidos, which has invested €27 million over the last two years. Italy’s second-busiest amusement park, Mirabilandia is located near the town of Ravenna.
