Grand Pier opening confirmed

The owner of the new look Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare, England, has confirmed that the attraction will finally open in time for the “half-term” school holidays at the end of October.

“Ever since the devastating fire of July 2008, the public interest in the Grand Pier has been immense,” says Kerry Michael. “We continue to work closely with our main contractors John Sisk & Son who have confirmed that they expect to complete their works on the Pavilion by Friday the 22nd of October. Assuming this all goes to plan, we believe that we can open in time for the school half-term holidays starting on October 23.”

The pier, recently profiled in Park World, features package of new rides and attractions inside its large Pavilion building including a Robocoaster, electric go-kart track, drop tower, ghost train, fun house, mirror maze, laser race and 4D cinema. Suppliers include Simworx, Gravitron, Moser’s Rides, Robocoaster and Funovation.

“We have spent an incredible amount of time and money to deliver what we believe is the best pier on the world,” adds Michael. “We are confident that the new Pavilion, with its state-of-the-art rides, attractions, function rooms and wedding venues will be a big hit with locals and tourists alike.”
