Orange award for outgoing CEO
Departing Efteling CEO Ronald van der Zijl has been made an officer of the Order of Orange Nassau (a Dutch military recognition) for his achievements in and outside the famous theme park near Tilburg in the Netherlands.
During a farewell ceremony on May 28, he also received a municipal award for his merits in the local community from the mayor Mrs Van Hoek-Martens.
Under the guidance of van der Zijl, Efteling has continued to make a positive impact on the local North Brabant economy, with the Winter Efteling celebration extending the park’s season and boosting attendance. He has also promoted a number of environmental initiatives.
During his career with the park, van der Zijl CEO has also worked with a number of local, provincial and even European governments to address various challenges within the industry. He also served several part-time roles at companies, commissions and governing boards.
