Business of Fun contest now open

The IAAPA Foundation of the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions has teamed up with JA Worldwide to sponsor a global, on-line contest for 14 to 19 year-old students who are driven by an entrepreneurial spirit.

The Business of Fun contest gives young people the opportunity to submit an idea for—or innovation of—new or improved rides, attractions, entertainment, and shows. Students are encouraged to also consider other elements of a guest’s experience: wait times, park facilities and lighting, safety, and food and beverage options. It’s all about creative business innovation that will increase the appeal of parks and attractions for all age segments.

Submissions may include an original work of art, a video, an infographic, photos, graphics, documents, or any other format that demonstrates the student’s business innovation and will be accepted at jaworldwide.org/businessoffun before Aug. 31, 2017. The top innovator will win a trip to the IAAPA International Attractions Expo in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 13–17, 2017. The trip includes transportation, lodging, meals for the winner, a family member, and a JA sponsor (if applicable), as well as a private meeting with three key industry executives and VIP visits to Orlando attractions.
