The carriage for Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s new ride – Icon – has been unveiled this week, with the ride launching for the very first time.
One of the three 16-seater steel carriages was installed onto the completed track for the first test run of the £16.25m ride. The copper-gold carriages, manufactured by German company Mack Rides, launched round the tracks at speeds of up to 85kmph.
“We have been on an incredible journey building this rollercoaster,” said Amanda Thompson OBE, managing director at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. “seeing its towering presence on the park and entwining with some of our most popular rides, it really has been epic.”
Icon is set to open to the public later this spring.
