Andersen to replace Wedin at Liseberg

Andreas Andersen (pictured) is to replace Mats Wedin as president and CEO of the Liseberg Group in Sweden, starting February 1. Wedin is due to retire.

A veteran of the amusement industry in Scandinavia, Andersen worked in a variety of leadership positions at Tivoli in Copenhagen from 2001 to 2008, and since 2008 has served as executive director of IAAPA Europe.

Based in the city of Gothenburg, Liseberg is a classic city centre amusement park that attracts over 3 million guests a year with a mix of rides, attraction, concerts and events. In common with other Scandinavian parks, it also operates a successful winter season.

“Liseberg has a special status in the attractions industry and plays an important role in the city of Gothenburg,” highlights Andersen. “My ambition is to maintain the traditions of Liseberg, but at the same time also make sure that the park constantly renews and re-invents itself to serve the guests of the future.”

“Andersen has extensive operational experience, combined with an international outlook and a passion for the industry,” notes Liseberg chair Göran Johansson. “The Liseberg board of directors is very pleased with this selection.”
