WWA Symposium 2012

Industry professionals from across North America and beyond will come together early next month in New Orleans for the World Waterpark Association’s (WWA) 31st Annual Symposium & Trade Show.

This annual get-together for operators and suppliers, representing waterparks, splash parks, aquatics centres, hotels, resorts and even YMCAs, provides an excellent opportunity to share ideas, benchmark best practices and network with industry peers.

Education always forms an important part of the proceedings and this year over 50 sessions will be devoted to topics like:

•Let “Mainstream” be a “Widestream” – Helping ALL People Play!

•25 Ways to Increase Your Park’s Safety

•Creating a Leadership Legacy and Culture of Excellence

•Preventative Maintenance Tricks and Tips

•No Money, No Problem! Low-Cost and No-Cost Ways to Keep Your Park Relevant in a Down Economy

•Breaking the Code: The Latest Updates on the Model Aquatic Health Code & ICC’s Pool Codes

•Come One, Come All! Mastering The Three Ring Circle of Events, Promotions & Public Relations

•Advanced Social Media

Also promised are several specialised full-day workshops on subjects such as Welcoming People With Disabilities, Magical Selling Skill and Design, Development & Expansion, as well as many lifeguard and operator certification courses and various round table discussions for parks of various sizes.

The accompanying three-day trade show, which kicks off on October 5, will feature more than 250 companies, showcasing everything from lifeguard uniforms and ticketing systems to waterslides and spray features.

Social events during the week will be plentiful, including WWA’s Annual Golf Tournament (October 4), the Annual Reunion Party (October 5) and a New Orleans Party at Generations Hall on October 6 – so dig out your best Hawaiian shirt (every waterpark operator should have one) and prepare to party!

The WWA Symposium & Trade Show takes place at the Hilton Riverwalk & New Orleans Convention Center, Louisiana, USA, from Monday to Friday, October 3 to 7.
