Buyout at Sea World Resort
Published:  01 November, 2006

The Sea World Nara Resort on Australia’s Gold Coast is to shorten its name to simply Sea World Resort, following the buyout of its Japanese partner by Village Roadshow Ltd.

Finalised on September 29, Village Roadshow paid AUS$20million for the remaining interest in the resort previously held by Nara Australia.

The new name cements the resort’s association and relationship with the neighbouring Sea World theme park, one of five Gold Coast attractions now 100 per cent owned by Village Roadshow. The others four are Warner Bros Movie World, Wet ’n’ Wild Water World, Paradise Country and the Australian Outback Spectacular.

“I am delighted with the new changes and look forward to a closer working relationship with the theme parks,” declares Sea World Resort general manager, Ernst Pfister. “I am confident that this relationship will enable us to continue to offer the best theme park holiday experiences to our guests.

“Linked by monorail to Australia’s Sea World theme park, Sea World Resort is known for its warm service and family-friendly facilities. Plans are currently being finalised for a $2million upgrade to the resort’s lobby and Shoreline Restaurant. Further refurbishments, including the installation of LCD televisions in all rooms, are also planned for 2007.
