ABC Rides of Switzerland will next season deliver a highly themed version of its River Splash ride to an as yet unnamed park in Europe. It will represent the fourth delivery of such an attraction since production started last year and this latest installation will be the tallest and longest yet.
As featured on the ride this summer at Steinwasen Park in Germany, this new River Splash will include a rotating vertical lift, a patent for which has been filed by ABC Rides. A great thrill for the passengers, as well as a practical, spacesaving method of raising the boats to the top of the ride, the lift mechanism is also very efficient, returning one empty platform to the loading station as the other is lifted to the top.
The circular ‘raft’ style boats, with seating for up to 9 passengers each, dash around the many curves and through tunnels and waterfalls on their way down from the 30-metre summit.
So thrilling and fast-paced is the experience that getting wet is almost a secondary sensation although, sure enough, at the end of the ride, the boats splash into the pool below. As they return to the station, the boats are aligned towards the exit ramp so passengers can disembark swiftly.
As well as building the ride, ABC will also provide the crazy mine theming, and add various interactive elements. An attractive lighting package is also planned by the park.
“The ride will be the absolute highlight of the coming spring,” believes ABC Ride’s Alberto Brandestini. “It will be a real rapture for the visitors of the park because of the starting height of the top spiral channel, and the decoration will take it even higher.”
Brandestini will reveal only that the park in question belongs to a “very active” Central European show family.
During 2005, ABC provided a number of water rides to parks in Europe and North America. These included a baby flume ride, suitable for children from just 9 months, for Legoland in Germany and mini flume rides Rasti-Land in Germany, Adventureland in New York and Märchenpark in Austria. Under construction is the aforementioned River Splash for Steinwasen Park in Germany.
Some of these rides were supplied with prefabricated channels, requiring minimum installation and no foundations or reservoirs.
