Dark Knight offers Total Immersion
Published:
27 August, 2008

Those in line to ride the Dark Knight coaster at two Six Flags parks in the States can step into the dark side with the Joker and his henchmen. Using Total Immersion technology, from the French firm of the same name, the queue lines have become part of the experience.

Now open at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, and Six Flags Great America, in Gurnee, Illinois, the Dark Knight coaster is an indoor ride based on the current Batman film. Immersion in the Gotham environment begins just before boarding, in a pre-show area that looks and feels like a subway station. What appears to be a surveillance monitor reveals an interactive mirror, known as “ClownVision,” which magically superimposes clown masks on up to two riders at a time.
