Just ahead of this year’s event in Macau (July 14 to 15), IAAPA announced that the 2009 edition of Asian Attractions Expo will be held in Seoul, South Korea – not Beijing as some expected.
The event, the largest of its kind in Asia, will takes place at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center from June 10 to 12. The show has been bolstered in recent years by the tremendous growth of the attractions industry in Asia.
In South Korea, theme park revenue is projected to grow from nearly US$60 million in 2008 to more than $900 million in 2012. This growth is generated by a combination of improved economic conditions and the development of several major new parks including offerings from MGM Studios, Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios. Located in the central business area of Seoul, COEX is a apparently a state-of-the-art exhibition facility and the world’s 10th largest convention center.
“The combination of a contemporary cultural city like Seoul with the modern amenities of COEX provides a dynamic setting for Asian Attractions Expo 2009,” believes IAAPA CEO Charlie Bray.“
