Following a similar blueprint to that adopted by IAAPA at its Summer Meeting in 2004, the British Association of Amusement Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA) visited Europa-Park in Germany from June 16 to 18 as guests of the Mack family.
More than 100 members and associate members, including park owners, operators and suppliers, gathered for the three-day event in the Black Forest, which included behind-the-scenes tours of both Europa-Park and the Mack Rides factory in Waldkirch, as well as a golf tournament.
Staying at the Colosseo and Santa Isabel hotels on site, guests enjoyed an exclusive dinner at the recently-opened Bamboe Baai restaurant, where they were treated to a four-course feast complemented by entertainment throughout.
As well as the socialising there were also a couple of members meetings. At the same time as the BALPPA event, the board of the VDFU held a meeting at Europa-Park, which made a nice change as members were able to socialise not just with park owners from their own country, but also several German operators too.
