Europa-Park begins expansion

German park clears 15 hectares for development

Europa-Park has broken ground on a 15-hectate expansion which will see the leading German attraction add a number of new attractions over the coming years.

To make way for the new area, the park is creating a new 1.6km access road and bicycle lane, which should be ready for guests visiting during the 20008/9 winter season.
When the full expansion is complete, Europa-Park will increase in size from 70 to 85 hectares. Already the largest amusement park in Germany, it also boasts the country’s biggest hotel development, comprising four individual themed properties. It took the Mack family eight years to acquire all the necessary lots for the forthcoming new development.

Pictured here, Europa-Park managing directors Roland and Jürgen Mack turn the first sod of the new road together with the mayor or Rust, Günther Gorecky.
