Land of the Vikings debuted last season with the opening of Vikings’ River Splash, a rapid river by ABC Engineering (pictured), but this year gets a new attraction in the shape of Longboat Invader, a Zamperla Rockin’ Tug.
Vikings’ River Splash is Legoland Windsor’s biggest and wettest ride to date and takes guest on a wild voyage through a fantasy world created by millions of Lego bricks. The ride was themed by TAA Industries of Madrid. Land of the Vikings also features a Nordic-themed hedge maze, Loki’s Labyinth.

show, Cinderella, and Johnny Thunder’s brand new live action show, Revenge of the Aztec Queen. The 2008 special events programme, meanwhile, kicked off with Lego Indiana Jones in the thrilling After Dark laser show for the Easter holidays. The May holiday weekend will see a world record attempt to build the tallest Lego tower, a feat performed previously at Legoland California.
*Following a successful trial last season, Lo-Q has signed a two-year deal to supply a queue management system to Legoland Windsor.  The VQ2020 system uses a “Q-bot” hand held wireless device which allows guests to make reservations for their favourite rides from anywhere within the park. Once a ride is reserved, the visitor is placed in a virtual queue thereby avoiding physical queue waiting time. This time saved, the park hopes, gives them more time to spend in restaurants and gift shops.
“The Q-bot is a key part of our objective to give visitors an even more enjoyable experience,” says Legoland Windsor general manager Vicky Brown. “Our park is aimed at the under 12 age group and they will especially enjoy having “Q-bot” wait in the queue for them.”
“Lo-Q’s products have been widely used in the US for several years so it is really exciting for us to have one of our systems operating in a high profile UK theme park too,” adds Lo-Q’s Leonard Sim.
Lo-Q’s UK trials were carried out at Thorpe Park, which like Legoland is owned by Merlin Entertainments. Furthermore the company has a “Text-Q” service in operation at the London Dungeon and other Merlin venues.
