Tony Hawk arrives at more Six Flags parks
2008 is year of the skate
Published:  12 February, 2008

Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, will introduce a spinning coaster from Gerstlauer for its 47th season in 2008. The new addition is one of several coasters across the Six Flags portfolio to be themed after the skateboarder Tony Hawk.

Tony Hawk’s Big Spin will be a 1,351foot-long, 52.5ft-tall ride, featuring four-person spinning cars all decked out in skateboard motif. Riders will twist and turn through two helixes, wild mouse turns, a camelback and much more. Because the weight distribution of passengers will determine how each car spins along the track, each ride will be different.
In the queue line, potential riders will learn about the history of skateboarding and watch highlights of action sports on monitors and story panels. DVD ride videos will also be available courtesy of CDRide.
Tony Hawk’s Big Spin rides already operate at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Six Flags St Louis, and in 2008 Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will join the Arlington park in adding a new one.
At Six Flags America, Bowie, Maryland, Tony Hawk will be represented in waterpark form for the first time when the park adds Tony Hawk's Halfpipe at the neighbourng Hurricane Harbor property. This edgy waterslide, from Water Fun Products, stands four stories tall and sends guests flying down one side of the halfpipe’s “ramp” and up vertically to the other on one and two person inner tubes. It allows riders to experience on water what skateboarders experience on dry land: zero gravity.
Also on tap at the Six Flags America in 2008 will be the return of Cirque Dreams Coobrila. This Cirque Productions extravaganza, complete with extraordinary costumes, brilliant imagery and edge-of-your-seat performances, is back by popular demand beginning in June 2008.
