Cedar Point spends $5.2m
Planet Snoopy highlights new attractions
Published:  12 January, 2008

For the 2008 season, Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, plans to spend $5.2 million in capital improvements in and around the amusement park. Planet Snoopy, the park’s newest children’s area, will be a highlight of these plans.

Planet Snoopy will replace the former Peanuts Playground, and also feature a Peanuts-themed environment. Featured will be seven Zamperla rides rethemed from their former home, Geauga Lake amusement park. The selection includes a mini-tea cup-style ride, miniature train, 4x4 trucks, a bouncing tower, spinning balloons, rocket ships and a crazy sub ride.
The new additions bring the total number of children's rides at Cedar Point to 32, and the park's overall total to 75. Planet Snoopy will also feature games, live appearances by Peanuts characters and a family centre with changing stations and private areas to feed children.
“We’re known around the world for our rollercoasters,” notes Cedar Point vice-president and general manager John Hildebrandt. “but we’re also a destination for families looking for a wide range of thrills. Planet Snoopy will be a great start for the young thrill-seeker this summer.”
Cedar Point will also introduce four new live shows in 2008. Snoopy’s Big Bow Wow On Ice will skate into the Good Time Theatre. Next to Planet Snoopy, All Wheels Extreme will have skilled stunt bikers, skateboarders and rollerbladers performing flips and tricks. In the Centennial Theatre, Signed, Sealed, Delivered will feature live singers and dancers in a stage show celebrating music of the ‘50s and ‘60s, while the Red Garter Saloon will showcase an all-new musical revue.
Located on the tip of the Cedar Point Peninsula, the Sandcastle Suites hotel will also unveil the results of a two-year refurbishment.
