Following the success of a similar ride by an Austrian supplier, Zamperla is nearing completion of a new tower-based flying chairs ride called the Vertical Swing.
The ride is available in both park and trailer-mounted models, at 38 and 30.5 metres in height respectively, including a top sign. The maximum height reached by the twin-seat chairs, each suspended from one of 12 arms, will be 26.7 or 20.6 metres.
The chairs will swing out to a diameter of 23 or 17 metres, as they rotate around the centre tower at speeds of up to either 10 or 12 rpm. Zamperla is keeping other details of the ride, including décor and colour schemes, under wraps for the time being. The competing Star Flyer from Funtime has already enjoyed great success at a number of venues, and given Zamperla’s sales force, the Vertical Swing could well eclipse it.
The first unit is expected to be delivered soon to an American client.
