Designed and manufactured by Zamperla, Pony Express will complement the western theme of Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town area when it opens late May. The California park’s newest ride promises a horseback relay at speeds never imagined in the Old West, and is adaptation of Zamperla’s Motocoaster.
Sitting astride one of 16 horses, riders will be launched at a speed of 0-38 mph in less than three seconds via a flywheel and clutch drive system.
The terrain for the mounted riders will be rugged as they navigate an ascending banked turn to a height of over 44ft, then through a series of 60-degree banked turns, camelbacks, and tight manoeuvres. During the 1,300ft-long ride, passengers will also fly past Boot Hill and Big Foot Rapids.
