Mystery solved for Swiss park
Published:  01 October, 2006

Mystery Park near Interlaken in Switzerland has been saved from closure, just three years after it opened.

The bankruptcy-threatened attraction, which is dedicated to the stories and theories of best-selling Swiss author Erich von Däniken, has been offered a SFr16 million (€10 million) investment by Zurich-based businessman Jakob Dietiker. The entrepreneur has also offered to cover any losses until the end of October, retaining the services of an undisclosed number of the 64 full-time staff.

"I'm very, very happy that we have found someone who is willing and has proven finances to take over the Mystery Park," von Däniken told a Swiss website. "The park does have a future. Of course, we will need to change a few things and become more modern – and that's what we will do” Mystery Park does not have any rides as such, but does boasts a number of hi-tech shows and exhibits across its seven pavilions.
