So long Snoopy, here comes Nick
Published:  21 August, 2007

The largest indoor family theme park in the United States is to be re-branded as Nickelodeon Universe. The Mall of America in Blooington, Minnesota, has teamed up with the number-one entertainment brand for kids to give a fresh look to its former Camp Snoopy park, beginning March 2008.

Rides and attractions at the seven-acre facility are staying open during the transitional period, but new rides inspired by Nickelodeon’s popular shows and characters and healthy eating options for the kids will be introduced by the time it is finished.

In an effort to give children a voice during the transformation, Mall of America and Nickelodeon have established a Kids’ Panel, in which youngsters aged between 8 and 12 will meet monthly for interactive sessions to help with the design and creative process.

The new rides planned for Nickelodeon Universe include a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter coaster, a SurfRider 90 by Intamin, a 65ft Moser Spring Ride and a fourth ride yet to be identified. Nickelodeon is working closely with Mall of America to create the park’s new logo, which will incorporate several of the most popular ‘Nick’ characters.
