Trimper Rides threatened
Published:  27 June, 2007

Trimper Rides, a 117-year-old iconic park in Ocean City, Maryland, has added two new rides from Zamperla this season, however the Flying Tigers (pictured) and Speedway could be the last new additions ever. Soaring property taxes and other increased costs are forcing the Trimper family to consider closing.

“We experienced a tax assessment increase in 2007 from $29 million to $71 million, and a tax increase from $540,000 to $900,000, plus a tax on amusement rides,” admits Doug Trimper. “Our corporate profit last year was $380,000, so that tax increase puts us immediately in the red. Something has to happen.”
