HIT Entertainment, one of the world’s leading independent children’s entertainment producers and rights owners, has announced that Drayton Manor Theme Park in England will welcome Europe's first ThomasLand in spring 2008.
Inspired by the popular pre-school character Thomas & Friends, the new land will replace the park’s existing 6,000 square metre children’s area and feature around 10 new rides.
For the first time in Europe, young Thomas fans and their families will be able to enter the magical world of Sodor on themed rides such as the Cranky Crane Tower Ride, the Troublesome Trucks Rollercoaster and Harold the Heli-Ride. ThomasLand will also showcase a brand new Thomas train that takes children on a five minute magical journey through Sodor, which will include special appearances from the Fat Controller.
HIT Entertainment says the development presents significant marketing and retail cross-promotional opportunities for the licensees and as such ThomasLand at Drayton Manor will be supported by a strong retail, marketing and publicity campaign and
"We are thrilled to be working with Drayton Manor, an outstanding and well respected theme park, in bringing this unique visitor attraction to life,” says HIT CEO Bruce Steinberg. “ThomasLand is a natural extension of the Thomas & Friends brand and we look forward to working with Drayton Manor to deliver an exciting attraction for young Thomas fans and their families to enjoy.”
Work is expected to start in August.
