What addition would make a logical expansion/second gate to your operation?
Published:  27 June, 2007

Bill Muirhead, Movie Park, Germany: Well we actually have been talking about, believe it or not, a waterpark. I’m a big believer in marrying waterparks with theme parks. Every time I’ve added a waterpark to my attractions, and I’ve done it in Massachusetts, I did it in New Jersey, in Hong Kong and Pennsylvania, every time I did it; it was an absolute positive, to operations, to revenue, to EBITDA. But also I’ve got to tell you, this region, the North Rhine area, is up and coming with regards to tourism and we have a deficiency of bed nights, so I don’t know if it’s a second gate, but we could really use accommodation here and make that work. I could also see an indoor totally themed environment that we could open year round working too. And we have the room.

Thomas Etheredge, Wild West World, USA: Wild West World already has a hotel on property and is considering a waterpark in the future. In addition future commercial expansion is being planned in the Wild West World commercial area surrounding the park.

Mohammed Feroz Al Khan, Deerah Park, Saudi Arabia: I would like to do something that involves the family more. When I go to other parks I see that it is 80% teenagers, there is never anything for the families to enjoy. My dream is to have a place for the whole family to enjoy and that respects the traditions and cultures of Saudi Arabia; that’s very important. It would mean more than just rides.

Kent Buescher, Wild Adventures, USA: We would greatly benefit from an RV (recreational vehicle) and campground resort consisting of RV hook-ups, campsites, family cabins and a country-style lodge. The grounds would consist of horseback trails, fishing facilities and other family-type activities. Anything that will keep families together will benefit our park.

Edward Pawley, Drayton Manor, England: We already have plans for a hotel, and it’s all really about extending the overall experience, and to do that we will have a waterpark as well. Combined with a new area of the park, it will also allow us to extend the season. Another reason we are building the hotel is because of the business market; there is still a lot of demand locally for beds from the NEC [National Exhibition Centre].
