June 23 will herald the opening of Knightmare, the latest rollercoaster at medieval theme park Camelot in England. At £3 million (€4.2m), the ride is being touted as the biggest investment yet by the park’s current owner, Prime Resorts.
Full of twists, turns and steep drops, Knightmare is over half a mile long. The ride reaches speeds of over 40mph and lasts just under two minutes. Knightmare will also subject riders to more g-force than any other coaster in the UK, reaching an extreme high of 5g. The German-built attraction previously operated in Kobe, Japan, and is highly rated by coaster fans.
"This ride is something special,” says Andy Hine, chairman of the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain. “It’s a really intense ride with non-stop action for the whole two minutes."
Knightmare has been sited alongside some of Camelot’s existing most popular attractions including The Rack, Excalibur Two and Whirlwind and will be clearly visible from the M6 motorway.
