PlayWorld
A former aviation engineer (as indeed are many of senior members of RAAPA - the Russian Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions), Dmitri Vlasov decided to enter the amusement industry in 2002 following two years of research. Gerry Robinson met up with him at April's RAAPA Show in Moscow.
This led him to set up PlayWorld, of which he is managing director, manufacturing very high quality indoor and outdoor playground equipment
Currently his company, which is based in Moscow, employs 30 people. Dmitri has supplemented his own products by obtaining a distributorship on behalf of German play supplier Kompan.
Having exhibited at the RAAPA Show for the last three years, PlayWorld has grown a substantial customer base from all over Russia, with many repeat orders. About 50% of the company's new business now comes from the internet, however.
Dmitri considers the RAAPA event to be the ideal platform for him to display the quality and innovativeness of his equipment. Here he can be seen standing on one of the company's rope and plank bridges at the show.
When asked about his vision for the future, the PlayWorld boss stated that as more and more suppliers of indoor equipment come into the market place his company is likely to concentrate on specialist outdoor play and leisure equipment, creating its own designs.
