Santa Monica comes to Germany
Published:  07 May, 2007

Movie Park, Bottrop, Germany, has opened the second of two new areas for 2007. Santa Monica Pier replaces the park’s old Cop Car Chase rollercoaster with five fresh attractions in a relaxed new setting.

Along the full length of the pier’s decked surface appears a Zamperla Disk ‘O’ Coaster called Crazy Surfer, complemented by a Rockin’ Tug from the same manufacturer. Guests can also skim over water on Pier Patrol, a jet ski ride from Zierer.

Across from the pier a mini beach has been created, with additional attractions including a 20-metre Ferris Wheel (pictured) from SBF/Visa, a fire brigade ride from Zamperla, plus a wooden children’s playground.

The new area totals 15,00 square metres and rids Movie Park of the dead end that existed when the coaster was in its place. The addition of water also creates a more relaxed environment for families to dwell during their visit.

Santa Monica Pier was soft opened at the beginning of May, with an official opening on May 18. The park’s other new area, Nick Land, debuted over Easter.

A full profile appears in the June issue of Park World.
