The Simpsons head for Universal Studios
Published:  07 May, 2007

The global TV cartoon franchise The Simpsons will be immortalised in the theme park form for the first time next season when Universal Studios in both Hollywood and Orlando adds a new ride featuring the characters Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson.

From Spring 2008, Universal guests will be rocketed along with the Simpson family on an adventure through a previously unexplored side of Springfield, the TV-series’ fictional setting. The ride will feature a fantasy amusement park dreamed up by the show’s cantankerous Krusty the Clown.

Universal’s creative team is collaborating with The Simpsons creator and executive producer Matt Groening and executive producer James L Brooks to create the mega attraction. The show’s classic humour and many of its characters will be instantly recognisable thanks to voices from the original actors.

"The ride is designed to duplicate the Simpsons home-viewing experience, only at high speed and with lots of screaming," states Groening.

“I am particularly thrilled since, like most people, I'm forever looking for a way to cut the line at Universal theme parks!” adds Brooks.
