To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Disneyland Paris is adding Crush’s Coaster, a ride with special effects based on the Finding Nemo movies. The coaster opens in June, along with another Paris-only attraction called Cars Race Rally, which is designed for young children. Toon Town at Walt Disney Studios will offer meet-and-greet opportunities with movie characters ranging from Donald Duck to Remy Rat.
John Morris has joined Morey’s Piers, Wildwood, New Jersey, as operations manager. He will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Mariner’s Landing Pier, one of three seaside amusement piers operated by the Morey Organization. He comes to Morey’s Piers from DS Distribution where he was facility manager for the last seven years.
Robert F Ott, former president and board chairman of Dorney Park, Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away March 3. Aged 88, he retired in 1985 from Dorney Park after 43 years of service.

A new storyline and film will feature Donald Duck alongside two characters from the 1944 Disney film The Three Caballeros, José Carioca the parrot and Panchito the Mexican rooster. The World Waterpark Association (WWA) recently appointed attorney Gaylee W Gillim to its 14-member board of directors. Gillim, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is part-owner and serves as general counsel for Magic Springs & Crystal Falls, Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is also a past president of the International Amusement & Leisure Defense Association (IALDA) and currently serving as secretary. Gaylee and her colleagues are frequent presenters at industry conferences, including WWA’s.
Technical Park is developing its own take on the currently popular tower ride swing concept, but using a hydraulic lift rather than a traditional tower.
With a new management team at the helm, Raging Waters, Sacramento, California, is investing millions of dollars this season into park improvements. The park’s newest water thrill ride will be Dragon’s Den from ProSlide Technologies, an attraction that drops for nearly five stories while spiralling through enclosed tunnels into a narrow crevice that finally shoots the two-person raft into a clear pool of water. Palace Entertainment, the largest owner and operator of waterparks and family entertainment centres in the US, is the operator of Raging Waters.
California’s Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is the new home for the organ that once operated at San Francisco's former Playland at the Beach. The Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ was purchased new in 1918, and now it is the only working organ of its kind in California. It will now play daily outside the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's carousel building where it joins Laughing Sal, another attraction that had operated at Playland.
