Shooting Cars
The bumper car just got interactive. Air-Joe, from Germany, is now marketing a new range of cars with integrated ball or laser cannons.
The cars, which are manufactured in China and then adapted by Air Joe in Europe, are available as single-seater, double-seater or bumper boat versions. They can also be supplied coin-operated.
Each of the laser cars has a target on the back and, when it is hit, starts to vibrate and the steering is locked, sending the driver into a spin. The soft ball cars require a net around the outside track to operate, but as the balls are soft and squishy apparently do not clog up the track. The cannons have a range of 10-15 metres.
Previous attempts as laser-shooting cars never really took of and whether Air Joe can really reinvent the wheel with the soft ball version remains to be seen, but the company insists trials at a fun centre in Austria have been a success.
