How would you like your Splash Battle?
Published:  29 March, 2007

Since introducing the first Splash Battle at Walibi World in 2005, 3DBA and its partners have enjoyed great success with the ride. Now, with three versions available on the market, the company’s Roger Houben reckons he’s got more than enough to keep the concept fresh in the face of copycat products from rival suppliers.

The compact Splash Battle rides 600-800 passengers per hour and adopts a similar format to the existing standard Splash Battle using a track/rail-guided vehicle. A new installation will open this season at Fiabilandia in Italy.

The Standard Splash Battle, as seen as Walibi World, Indiana Beach, Chime Long Paradise and many others, accommodates 1,000 per hour. Flamingoland in England, among other parks, will receive a new version this season.

Many of the Splash Battle installations so far have used colourful cartoon submarine boats and a ride system by Preston & Barbieri. For the new trackless Splash Battle (pictured), 3DBA/Preston have partnered with Frog Entertainment from the Netherlands, which is providing the unique navigation technology. Concept and design will be by Falcon's Treehouse, with theming by P&P Design. The first will open at a park in China. Splash Battle trackless will offer an impressive throughput of up to 1,500 per hour.

With no rail in site, guests won’t know where the vehicle is heading and unpredictable ride sequences can be programmed, for example two boats coming up close to one another then suddenly spinning away. “We want to keep the classic images of water shooting and fun that people associate with Splash Battle, but add an element of surprise,” adds Houben.
