Magic Mountain looses coaster record
Published:  29 March, 2007

In an ongoing effort to become more family friendly, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, California, will not operate two rides this season, shattering its claims to the world record for most coasters in one park (a title now claimed by Cedar Point).

Flashback (pictured) is an Intamin Space Diver that first operated in 1985 at Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Illinois, as Z-Force before being moved to Six Flags Over Georgia, Atlanta, in 1988. It operated at Magic Mountain from 1992 to 2003, and will now be dismantled.

Psyclone is a larger version of the original Coney Island Cyclone that Magic Mountain introduced in 1991, and the only wooden coaster to feature trains from Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M). It was designed by Curtis Summers and built by the Dinn Corporation.

The California park is in the process of long-term planning and the sites of these two coasters have been designated as a starting points for future expansion.
