Legoland Windsor near London will this summer unveil its biggest investment to date, a 400-metre-long rapids ride called Vikings’ River Splash. Supplied by ABC Rides of Switzerland, it will be the highlight of the park’s new Land of the Vikings area.
Up to 1,300 guests an hour will be taken on a wet and wild journey, coursing through interactive water-features like the Troll Wash, where buckets of water will be emptied from the top of a four-metre high mast. Water in the ride will be recycled and filtered continuously.
Both Vikings’ River Splash and the Land of the Vikings will be themed around the Lego Vikings toy range. Guests will access the new area via a pathway leading down from the top of the park. Families will be able to travel through a fantasy Viking world featuring over 60 detailed Lego models, sea serpents, Viking warriors and a dragon nursery. Land of the Vikings is expected to boost overall park capacity by 15%.
Meanwhile Legoland Windsor’s famous hedge maze, created by the world-renowned labyrinth designer Adrian Fisher, will also get a Nordic makeover for 2007, when it will be re-launched as Loki’s Labyrinth as part of the Land of the Vikings.
