Forbidden Island
Published:  06 February, 2007

The Sally Corporation has introduced a new dark ride proposal: Forbidden Island. This spectacular new interactive experience takes visitors on a journey to a mysterious, uncharted volcanic island, the domain of Volcanikus, the legendary and feared Lord of Fire.

According to the storyline, the explorers’ quest is to rescue the island’s fabled treasure – incredibly rare, crystalline diamonds – before the rumbling, fire-spitting volcano erupts …an event that could happen at any time.

Forbidden Island requires a 12,000 square foot building. A total of 13 four-passenger cars travel over 564ft of track through 15 scenes containing 42 animatronics. Although the idea is still new, Sally has several dark rides contracted for 2007 and beyond. Granite Park, a new venture in Fresno, California, will open Den of Lost Thieves this coming season, while Astrid Lindgren Varld in Sweden will open a Pippi Longstocking-themed ride.
