Costume character and show production company Rainbow Productions, from London, recently joined forces with Mat Lawrence of prop maker Matfx, allowing it to offer an even more comprehensive package of services for live events.
In addition to scripting, directing and staging shows for the leisure and amusement park sector, Rainbow can now offer a broader range of props, illusions and animatronics.
Recent shows from Rainbow Live Productions included a second Star Wars-themed puppet show for Thorpe Park’s Dragon’s Tail Theatre in England, showing four times daily. Rainbow scripted the show and created the puppets. The 15-minute performance has a live narrator.
As it did in 2005, Rainbow produced costumes for the UK hit touring stage show Noddy Live! In Lille, France, a new ice show featuring Warner Brothers costume characters by Rainbow opened last month. For this commission, the characters needed to be adapted specially for use on ice.
Many leisure parks are seeing the benefits of investing in their own walk-about character, such as Daffodil the cow created recently for Thorpe Park. Rainbow also has a number of newly-available licensed characters available to book for parks and attractions. These include Underground Ernie, Rupert Bear, Lunar Jim and Pocoyo.
