S&S gets wet
Published:  01 January, 2007

S&S Power has unveiled three new concepts for water rides. The first, Huckleberry Splash, is an affordable raft ride that lifts 12 riders up to 24ft in the air then drops them into a pool of water, sending geysers of water through the raft and onto the riders. One Huckleberry Splash has already been sold in North America, and other sales are pending.

Supreme Saturator is a ride intended to replace a wave maker at the head of a wave pool. A ship carrying 12 to 32 people is lifted skyward. Beneath and attached to the ship is a giant wedge. When the ship is dropped into the water, a 3 to 12ft wave is created that rolls the length of the wave pool. Water geysers caused by the splashdown also drench the ship passengers. According to S&S thrill master Stan Checketts, there is “tonnes of interest” in Super Saturator and development continues.

Checketts has also enhanced his popular Screamin’ Swing flat ride by adding an interactive water element. Called the Fire Fighter Swing, this new version rocks riders 90 degrees to and fro, where they may be squirted. Checketts recommends a 55ft, 32-seat Swing be used. Interest in the Fire Fighter Swing is apparently high, rather like the ride itself.
