Demon Drop moves west

Knotts Berry Farm, Buena Park, California, will be replacing its  S&S Screamin’ Swing ride next season with the former Demon Drop from Cedar Point in Ohio.

The Intamin-built construction simulates a fall from the top of a 10-story building. Four-passenger cars are dropped to the base of the 131ft-tall tower and then climb back to the top in just six seconds. Once at the top, the car slowly inches forward into the drop area. Riders are suspended before plummeting 60ft in less than two seconds and then entering a pull-out curve.

Demon Drop was installed at Cedar Point (a sister Cedar Fair property) in 1983. Installation at Knott's is scheduled to begin in January 2010.
