Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia, Atlanta, soars 200ft above the park and covers an 8.5-acre site. Travelling over 4,400ft and reaching speeds of 70mph, Goliath begins on a spot once occupied by the Great Gasp parachute drop and now serves as the park’s skyline icon, visible for miles around.
The park’s 11th coaster, Goliath is Six Flags Over Georgia’s first mega coaster, or coaster reaching over 200ft in height. Because of its massive height and size, Goliath does not fit inside the park grounds and actually travels outside the park and back. It is the new welcoming landmark for guests as it screams overhead, just outside the park’s front gate.
Riders on Goliath sit four-abreast; strapped in bright orange and- teal open-sided trains consisting of nine cars each. After the 200ft ascent, Goliath screams through the park’s USA section, and outside into a series of zero gravity hills and drops and a giant spiral. After a sweeping high-bank turn, the ride flies back into the park through several more hills and drops, delivering more than one minute of high-speed action and the biggest thrill in Six Flags Over Georgia’s history.
Goliath is so enormous that it eclipses several other rides including the Georgia Scorcher, a B&M stand-up coaster that now stands in its shadow more than 50ft below.
