Funtime takes Divo Park to new heights
Since it opened in 2003, St Petersurg’s Divo Ostrov park has expanded at a steady pace and this season it has really reached for the sky with three new attractions from Funtime of Austria. The latest of these is the world’s first Triple Slingshot, which has been such a hit that since the lines full of anxious riders have stretched throughout the park to ride it.
The attraction differs from traditional Slingshots because it uses three towers instead of two, allowing for three capsules. In the middle sit the three spring machines. Their location allows for easy maintenance access and a great backdrop for the launch.
“We are particularly pleased with the success of the Triple Slingshot,” says Funtime’s Brian Mirfin. “This application demonstrates a new use for our patented springlaunch technology and allows parks to achieve a high capacity on an upcharge-style attraction. We are already talking to several more parks about adding the Triple Slingshot to their thrill ride arsenal in the coming season.”
Divo Ostrov Park, located in the Stone Island area of Russia’s second city, also purchased and has successfully opened a Star Flyer tower swing and Vomatraon propellor ride from Funtime.
“We have enjoyed working with Divo,” confirms Mirfin. “Funtime has a lot of exciting attractions in its collection and we are proud that the park chose us to provide their impressive 2006 additions.” Funtime of Austria is represented in by Ride Entertainment Systems in Stevensville, Maryland, in the USA.
