Simulation and motion theatre specialist Simworx, from England, is preparing to launch a fully transportable 4D effects theatre. The 120-seat, trailer-mounted attraction will be delivered next spring to an existing Simworx customer, who will run it alongside his Morphis simulators at air shows and events across Europe.

In the day it will show the B17 aviation film originally commissioned for the Air Zoo in Michigan, and then it will be transformed into a seminar and presentation space for corporate use in the evenings.

“It’s a fantastic concept that will maximise the theatre’s use and turnover,” says Simworx managing director Terry Monkton. “If I had the money, I’d operate one myself. He’ll clean up.” Seats will be arranged in rows of 20 and fold out from either side of the 6-wheel trailer via the use of a forklift mechanism. A queuing system, pre show area and merchandise outlet will also be included, and the theatre will be fully themed on the outside. In total, it will measure 14 x 14 metres.

“We see the mobile theatre also having potential for parks and attractions that may want to bring it in for just a few weeks at a time to add to their Halloween/Christmas celebrations etc,” adds Monkton.

*Simworx is about to offer a packaged 16-seater 4D effects theatre to air museums and other venues, self-contained inside a mini ‘hangar’ building. This turnkey solution will be offered for less than the price of Simworx’ own Morphis ESP Simulator.
