Sky Wheel launch from Maurer Söhne
Maurer Söhne will unveil plans at this month’s IAAPA Attractions Expo in Atlanta for a launched version of its Sky Loop rollercoaster. Riders will travel skywards at a constant acceleration of about 1G in X-Car vehicles via the use of an LSM (linear synchronous motor) drive.
This new ride offers not only the world’s highest vertical launch but also the highest inversion.
“Lifting off vertically at more than 25mph hour, patrons will feel like they are on the Space Shuttle as it leaves the launchpad,” says a Maurer spokeperson. Making the experience all the more thrilling will be the open design of the X-Car: Passengers can experience inverted ride elements and negative G, without being held in by shoulder restraints. Instead they will be secured by an ergonomically sophisticated bucket seat and hip bar.
