Aqualandia for kids

Aqualandia in Benidorm, Spain, has overhauled its Kinderlandia children’s playground in cartoon style courtesy of Ozlab Fun Factory from Italy

What was before simply an inflatables area is now a full children’s playground called Funnyland. This new addition to the park covers an area of 5,000 square metres and has been designed as a miniature theme park to complement the main Aqualandia offering.

Funnyland also has its own mascots, an Indiana Jones style monkey and a walrus dressed as an admiral. Together they represent the two main components of the new children’s area, the jungle and the sea.

Funnyland was conceived by designer Marco Bressan from Ozlab and took around five months to complete. In amongst some fantastic and fanciful theming are nine attractions, with the option to add further interactive elements and games in the future.

Funny Lagoon is a bumper boat installation set in a happy harbour village dominated by a huge smiling fishing vessel. Eight boats, by Eurogames, are available for kids to ride. Funny Jungle, meanwhile, is a safari ride featuring eight electric cars by Park Equipments, which drivers steer through an exotic village comprising waterfalls, bridges and a mysterious temple shrouded in mist.

Other attractions include Funny Circus, a show presented in Italian and German, and Goldseekers, a panning for gold game. Elsewhere, inflatables still form part of the mix, and there are also three large games to play.

As well as working on Funnyland. Ozlab was also invited to this season to transform The Galleon, a large themed stage used at Aqualandia for diving shows. Ozlab Fun Factory is based near Trieste in the north east of Italy.
