Ocean Park opens mainland office
Following big success so far targeting visitors from Mainland China, Ocean Park of Hong Kong has set up a representative office in Guangzhou, in the neighbouring Guangdong province.
The office, Ocean Park’s first in China, opened on August 21 and running in tandem will be a nationwide telephone enquiry hotline handling enquiries from guests and the travel trade.
In 2005/2006, guests from the mainland made up 44 per cent of Ocean Park’s 4-million-plus attendance, with 40 per cent of those originating from the Guangdong province.
“The mainland market is very important to Ocean Park, especially the Southern China provinces, and our strategy now is to bring Ocean Park closer to their doorsteps by actively developing transportation packages to make travelling to Ocean Park easy,” reports the park’s CEO, Tom Mehrmann.
